B.C. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix have announced that mandatory masking is returning to the province’s health-care facilities as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise.
On Monday, August 28th, British Columbians gathered outside the MLA office of Health Minister Adrian Dix to demand the restoration of universal masking in healthcare settings, alongside other key safety measures.
As part of DoNoHarm BC’s #Postcards4PublicHealth campaign, we’ve invited British Columbians to share their stories about the lack of Covid safety in BC – particularly the loss of mask protections in healthcare.
BC’s budget and fiscal report covers a “three year fiscal plan” for housing, sustainability, and healthcare. The report states, “As the funding for pandemic contingencies are set to wind down by the end of 2023/24, it is anticipated that the Ministry of Health will wind down or integrate any services…”
A ‘Do No Harm BC’ protest was held outside of B.C. Health Minister Adrian Dix’s office calling on the provincial government to re-instate mandatory masking in healthcare settings.
Protesters gathered on Friday in front of the B.C. health minister’s office in Vancouver to voice their continuing frustration with the removal of mask mandates in most healthcare settings. Angela Bower has the story.
