Starting August 1, 2023, DoNoHarm BC is launching the Covid action campaign Postcards for Public Health. We’re putting direct pressure on decision makers and raising awareness in British Columbia, Canada – but we want people and groups to join in from around the world!
Below, you can find resources to participate in whatever way best fits your capacity. The initial phase of our campaign culminates in a protest / press event on August 28, 2023 – and we’ll be keeping up the pressure beyond that. We hope you’ll join us!

Lowest Effort Participation
For those who don’t have the capacity to organize, here are options to participate as an individual outside of BC, Canada.
- Reshare posts, stories, or graphics from the campaign (at @DoNoHarmBC or #Postcards4PublicHealth on socials) – especially on Monday, August 28, 2023!
- Send this DIY Campaign Builder kit to a local Covid action group you think could use it!
- Send an email or a physical postcard (or two, or ten, or a hundred) to your local Health Minister, MLA, member of parliament etc. Follow the steps in our Postcards for Public Health kit and just swap in their contact info. Share online and use our hashtags!
Basic Campaign
- Steal our ideas! (Use the #Postcards4PublicHealth hashtag – and some credit is appreciated where practical.) Just copy from our Participation Guide and remove anything that seems too hard. For example:
- Find the mailing address and email address for your local Minister of Health or other key decision maker. Tell your friends and/or followers to send postcards and/or emails and encourage them to share online
- Gather friends or family members to hold a (Covid-safe) postcard craft night – this can even be via Zoom! Then take photos, post on social media, and mail them to your local Minister of Health, member of parliament, or other key decision maker!
- Make a Google Form like this or simply ask people to email or DM you, to collect stories of people affected by mask removal in healthcare (or a related issue). Read those stories outside a politician’s office and invite some journalists. (To learn more about how to invite journalists, check out our PR tips and templates here.)
Full Campaign
Copy our whole campaign – just in a different region! Duplicate the resources from our full Participation Toolkit and replace the names / addresses of our local policy makers with yours.
You can hold your own in person protest / press event outside the office of your local Minister for Health, member of parliament or similar. Find resources here to invite journalists and help with publicity.
For more inspiration, you can find some of our press packages here and protest guides here as examples.
